About Us

The South East Super League

The South East Super League is the premier draft basketball competition in Melbourne's south east. GMs build their rosters through a structured draft, players compete across an 11-game season plus finals, and every game is recorded and statistically tracked. Now in its 15th season — Super League is where basketball culture thrives.

Founded in 2012, Super League has grown from a small group of mates into one of Melbourne's most established independent basketball competitions. Over 15 seasons, hundreds of players have laced up, been drafted, and competed for the championship. The league is built on the belief that local basketball deserves a professional-level experience — from live stat tracking and recorded games to a weekly podcast and professional photography.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the South East Super League draft work?

Before each season, all registered players attend mandatory draft combines where they showcase their skills in front of team General Managers. GMs then participate in a live draft where they select players one by one to build their rosters. The draft format creates balanced, competitive teams every season and ensures no two seasons are ever the same. Every player gets drafted — the combines are about evaluation, not elimination.

How do I register for the next season?

Registration opens on the Super League website ahead of each season and is announced through our Facebook page and Instagram. In the meantime, you can register your interest on our website and we'll be in touch with draft combine details including dates, times, and venue. Registration covers your full season — uniform, recorded games, professional photography, live statistics, and access to the full Super League experience.

Where does the Super League play its games?

The South East Super League plays its games at Kurmulie Primary School in Officer, located in Melbourne's south east. Game schedules and tip-off times are shared with players each week and posted on the league's social media channels. All games are professionally recorded and statistically tracked through our live stats platform.

How many teams and games are there each season?

Each season features 10 teams competing across an 11-game regular season followed by a finals series. The season typically runs for around 14 weeks including finals. Every game is recorded and every stat is tracked — from points and rebounds to assists and steals — giving players a professional-level experience at a community competition.

What skill level do I need to play in Super League?

Super League welcomes players of all skill levels. The draft system naturally creates balanced teams, so whether you are an experienced representative player or someone looking to get back into basketball, you will find competitive and enjoyable games. The league has been running since 2012 and has built a community of players ranging from beginners to former semi-professional athletes.
